Exhibit Planner

Edwards Creative is seeking an experienced Exhibit Planner to lead the early conceptual and interpretive phases of museum and cultural projects. This role is central to shaping the big ideas, narratives, and visitor experiences that guide design and fabrication.  The ideal candidate brings a strong understanding of interpretive planning, audience engagement, and museum best practices, and can confidently work with clients, internal teams, and stakeholders to translate complex stories into clear, buildable exhibit concepts.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead exhibit planning and conceptual development for museum and cultural projects
  • Develop interpretive frameworks, big ideas, themes, and narrative structures
  • Create exhibit planning documents, including interpretive plans, matrices, content outlines, and concept descriptions
  • Collaborate closely with design, project management, and fabrication teams to ensure concepts are feasible and aligned with budgets and schedules
  • Facilitate client workshops, stakeholder meetings, and planning sessions
  • Support artifact planning, media recommendations, and interactive strategies
  • Ensure interpretive content aligns with institutional goals, audience needs, and accessibility standards
  • Participate in proposal development, including planning scopes and budgets

 

Qualifications: 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in exhibit planning, interpretation, or museum experience development
  • Strong understanding of museum best practices, interpretive theory, and visitor-centered design
  • Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills
  • Experience working directly with museum clients and stakeholder groups
  • Ability to translate abstract ideas into clear, actionable exhibit concepts
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Familiarity with exhibit development workflows from planning through fabrication
  • Experience collaborating with designers and fabricators is strongly preferred

Exhibit Builder

Edwards Creative is searching for an experienced fabricator with experience in woodworking, metal work and CNC operation, to support our custom fabrication team. As an Exhibit Builder, this person will work collaboratively with our entire Edwards Creative team on projects. This person will construct and install exhibit structures, research exhibit components and techniques, build crates from drawings or sketches, safely use various power tools, and construct exhibits using various materials, such as woods, metals, laminates, foam, acrylics, glass, etc.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Collaboration & Communication

    • Communicate and collaborate with Industrial Designers and Creative Team to discuss best approaches and participate in “shop drawing review” audits to review project details and layouts prior to files being released to production.
    • Collaborate with the entire Edwards Creative Team on projects from the conceptual phase through design, production, assembly, and installation.
    • Effectively communicate with fabrication and creative teams to discuss the structural feasibility of plans and to suggest alternate methods of displaying objects in the exhibit.
    • Communicate with leadership to identify quantities of materials, hardware, and shop supporting items.
    • Ability to assist with estimating projects.
    • Ability to work with vendors to source material.

Fabrication Skills

    • Accurately interpret sketches or fabrication drawings and build components from blueprints.
    • Understand various build techniques and hardware necessary for successful results.
    • Cuts, assembles, and fastens parts to construct the framework and exhibit components of specified materials using hand and power tools.
    • Skilled finishing work and attention to detail.
    • Identify issues and take necessary steps to ensure the final product meets the intended results.
    • Ability to operate a CNC Machine.

Installation

    • Some travel and overnight installations.
    • Construct, assemble, and install displays in museums, exhibit galleries, trade shows, and corporate environments.
    • Good communication skills to work with maintenance and installation personnel.
    • Mounts fittings and fixtures, such as shelves, panel boards, and shadow boxes to the framework, using hand tools or adhesives.
    • Maintain a professional appearance and positively represent Edwards Creative.

Safety

    • Be able to work safely in a fast-paced environment.
    • Follow shop rules, safety, and health procedures to avoid accidents and hazards.
    • Capable of safely operating a forklift.
    • A valid driver’s license is required.
    • Safely operate company vehicles.

Project Management

    • Maintain the Edwards Creative reputation for thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and whatever-it-takes customer service.
    • Accurately track time and materials daily.
    • Capable of meeting deadlines and completing projects within the estimated time.

 

Requirements: 

  • Prior fabrication experience.
  • Ability to operate a CNC Machine
  • Ability to stand during entire shift.
  • Ability to move, carry and lift 60 pounds.
  • Detail oriented and committed to the highest standards of quality.
  • Responsible to maintaining a minimum of 32 billable hours per week and logging a minimum of 40 hours total for each week.
  • Accurately track time and submit daily.
  • Ability to work independently without supervision.
  • Able to complete all fabrication work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Able to fill out detailed and accurate production paperwork and time reports.
  • Meet deadlines and fabrication goals.
  • Be open to designs and projects that push boundaries, in other-words really cool projects.
  • Ability to pass drug test and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Previous Project Management experience (certification is a plus)

Graphics & Exhibit Installer

Edwards Creative is seeking an experienced graphics  and exhibit installer to join our team. The ideal person would be capable of professionally performing tasks in corporate environments, museum exhibit spaces, and tradeshow settings. Candidate must be committed to quality, always pay attention to details, consistently deliver outstanding customer service, and be able to function effectively in a fast-paced environment. Some travel is necessary. Training for this role will be provided; however, there will be an expectation of general knowledge of installation techniques, familiarity with various hardware, and experience working with power tools.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dependable, hard-working, and self-motivated individual who also can work well within a team setting.
  • Able to install vinyl graphics, textured wall coverings, window films, plotted vinyl, and various types of wraps.
  • Can install dimensional logos, lettering, and signs with various types of hardware & techniques.
  • Responsibly handle and accurately install large, custom-built displays.
  • Collaborate with project managers and curators to understand museum guidelines, procedures, and exhibit installation requirements.
  • Understand installation techniques for various substrates, hardware, and finishing materials.
  • Support our project managers, graphic production, and fabrication teams to meet client needs.
