The Danville Station Museum contracted Edwards Creative to bring The Anne Frank Connection: From Amsterdam to Iowa to life through exhibit design, fabrication, and installation. The goal was to transform the newly constructed space, built around a historic WWII-era railcar, into a meaningful, immersive experience that honors the legacy of Anne Frank, the 1.5 million children lost in the Holocaust, and the courageous individuals who risked their lives to save others. Through interpretive design, large-scale graphics, custom exhibit cases, and integrated audio-visual elements, the exhibit was developed to help visitors engage with this critical moment in modern history and its connection to Danville.
In close collaboration with the museum, Edwards Creative delivered a reverent and impactful exhibit that invites reflection and connection. The exhibit features five object cases showcasing a growing collection of postcards dedicated to the memory of the 1.5 million children; large-scale interpretive wall graphics and dimensional didactics and imagery exploring the ties between Danville, the Frank family, and the broader story of Westerbork, deportation, and resistance; an interactive audio box featuring Holocaust survivor Eva Geiringer’s autobiographical account; and a custom display for a recently conserved WWII-era flag. Every element was carefully crafted to communicate themes of loss, resilience, and hope, encouraging visitors to draw connections between past and present and consider their role in shaping a more compassionate future.
