Edwards Creative partnered with the Dickinson County Museum to reimagine and transform its historic train depot into a dynamic, immersive storytelling experience. From initial concept planning through final design, fabrication, and installation, our team guided the project from start to finish, ensuring every stage reflected the museum’s mission to “inspire engagement by preserving our past.”
The process began with a comprehensive conceptual planning phase, where our interpretive planners and designers collaborated closely with museum staff to identify key themes and stories. Through this effort, we established a narrative framework capturing the vital role the depot played in connecting Dickinson County to the wider world.
Building upon these foundations, our team developed floor plans, layouts, and interactive features that would define the visitor journey. The exhibit plan incorporated both historic preservation and modern engagement tools such as tactile interactives, ambient audio, multimedia displays, and artifact-rich storytelling environments.
Edwards Creative managed all aspects of production and fabrication in-house, creating custom-built display walls, artifact cases, interactive stations, and environmental graphics designed to authentically evoke the look and feel of a working early 20th-century depot. The completed exhibit offers visitors a “Portal to the Past,” inviting them to step aboard a train car, walk the depot platform, and explore the operations and community life that once defined Dickinson County’s rail era.
